How Does Telesupervision work?

Telesupervision is defined as "the use of video-conferencing technology to remotely provide clinical supervision to therapists in training". The supervisee is provided with a link to a HIPAA compliant video conferencing software. Supervision will occur via multiple modalities including review of audio and video recordings, live sessions, and case presentations.

Research regarding virtual supervision is somewhat limited, but is growing. What researchers have consistently found, however, is that telesupervision is just as efficacious as in-person formats.

Telesupervision may be for you if you:

Have access to reliable technology including a computer, microphone/speakers, camera, high speed internet.

Are able to obtain written consent to video/audio record sessions from all clients and relevant stateholders.

Have difficulty accessing in-person AAMFT Approved supervision.

Feel comfortable meeting virtually for the duration of supervision.
