ABOUT ME

Serving others and assisting them in becoming the best version of themselves has motivated me throughout my professional development. It is my belief that each individual, couple, or family inherently possesses all of the strengths and skills necessary to be successful. My role as the therapist, supervisor, or instructor is to empower those I serve to identify and employ these existing strengths, increase resiliency in the face of adversity, and embrace the changes that accompany growth. Ultimately, I strive to make the path easier for those that come behind me.

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist in Illinois and Georgia, and an AAMFT Approved Supervisor. I received my PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy from Florida State University and have over 8 years of clinical experience in traditional outpatient and community settings.

Serving a diverse population of clients throughout my training and professional experience has deepened my sensitivity to the unique challenges underserved populations face and the resiliency with which they strive to overcome them. As a result, my approaches to therapy and supervision are driven by systemic perspectives that are inherently culturally responsive and strength based.

My program of research is congruent with the socioculturally attuned lens that informs my therapy and supervision philosophies. My primary areas of research include mental health and relational consequences of social-cultural stressors, best clinical practices with African American couples, and cross-cultural supervision. Through collaborative and independent work, I have developed several papers that are in various stages of the publication process and participated in numerous national conference presentations.
